Tremlett Thrubwell

The village of Tremlett Thrubwell is widely known as the source of the river Thrub which continues on through Newton Thrubwell before reaching the sea at Thrubmouth. Tremlett Thrubwell is also home to Wilfred Beehive the “English Minotaur” a mythical creature, reader of the Sunday papers and master of the slide rule. These paintings by Ian Shipton are the first to document this world, and to celebrate the tradition of topiary which has been a part of village life for over 300 years, resulting in it being declared a world heritage site in 2010.
